Grab your sparklers and wrap up warm, because it’s bonfire night!

Crystal Palace Park was no stranger to this, as on the 5th November it hosted its annual firework display. Food, music and fireworks, it pulled out all the stops to provide a bonfire night to remember.

It took place in the centre of the park; stalls lined the sides, music was blaring, and glowing lights were all around.

There were dozens of stalls selling all sorts of glowing memorabilia, from humble glow sticks to light-up mickey-mouse ears. The sight of this was breathtaking, hundreds of glowing lights blurring together under Crystal Palace Tower, reminiscent of Paris at night.

As well as a feast for the eyes, the night provided a feast for the mouth, with food stalls selling every type of junk food imaginable, but with queues stretching across the whole park and back, many people had brought their own meals from home.

And let’s not forget the real reason everyone came; the main attraction; the centre stage; the fireworks. At 7pm on the dot, the display began. Some of film’s greatest theme tunes were played, perfectly in sync with the fireworks. A strange medley, ranging from the Harry Potter theme to The Lion King, circle of life was played for the full 15 minutes of the display, adding an extra attraction for all the seven-year-old girls who sang along to Let it go at the tops of their voices, dying down only towards the end of the song.

All this was pulled together to create, in my opinion, a brilliant display. The Crystal Palace fireworks really did go off with a bang.
