Music has and always will be a significant part of everyday life and has transitioned from material to digital over time. Music can be perceived in many different ways, yet has a greater significance to some than others. Apps such as Spotify, Apple iTunes and Apple music have taken over music and downloading worldwide. Music shops and stores are becoming less and less common as the majority of people own smart phones or iPods, therefore the want for vinyl and CD's isn't as desired… however, vinyl is becoming trendy again. People packed up their boxes and cleared out their lofts as soon as music hit the internet, thinking vinyl would die out and never come back yet Crosley vinyl players and records are becoming stylish and the "thing to have". Modern day artists are having their music produced onto vinyl alongside the vintage originals that still exist in the occasional vinyl record store, besides downloaded music doesn’t have the crackle a record does!

Adding to vinyl collections can become expensive but vinyl doesn’t always need to be bought brand new. Records can be picked up wherever you go, at a local car boot sale or in all the charity shops. By purchasing vinyl records in modern society allows records to be salvaged and keeps the crackle alive. Records are available new and used all over the local Kingston area. There are two record orientated shops in Kingston town centre as well as the beloved charity shops which all need sustaining!
