Following the recent Parkland school shooting in Florida a group of students and other survivors decided to challenge the NRA and second amendment in hopes of limiting gun violence in the USA. These students created the march for our lives movement to promote awareness around the country about the danger of firearms.

On the 24th of March in over 800 locations marches took place to commemorate the victims of the Parkland shooting and encourage a safer America without Guns. One of these marches took place in London where supporters rallied outside the US embassy in solidarity with the survivors and the nearly half a million people who took to the streets in washington DC.

The march for our lives events have brought many overlooked matters and regulations to light. Recent polls now show that the public supports the restrictions on guns and major sports shops such as Dick’s Sporting Goods have stopped the selling of assault rifles due to backlash from the protesters. However President Trump clearly shows no interest in completely scraping the second amendment, but is trying to compromise by raising the age in which an American can buy a handgun to 21 and inflicting more thorough background checks when buying a gun.
