On Friday 9th March, a Mother’s Day Pamper Evening was held at Dartford Grammar School by the FPTA (Friends, Parents and Teachers Association).

From 6.30 – 9.30 pm, local beauty therapists and mediums offered their services to mothers and daughters at the school.

Treatments included threading, massages, reflexology, makeup, nails, facials and much more.  Professional family photography and spiritual healing was also on offer, with mediums providing tarot and angel card readings.

Entry cost £2.50, with treatments ranging from £5 to £25.

A number of stalls were also set up at the school, selling a range of goods – including a variety of pampering beauty products, handbags, jewellery, knitwear and cards – providing an opportunity to buy gifts for Mother’s Day.  Refreshments were also available while the women indulged in their treatments.

Francesca Doyle, a year 10 student at Dartford Grammar School, said: 'I particularly enjoyed the Gold Express Facial and I thought it was a really good idea to support the school community.'

The Gold Express Facialist also provided free samples of her own home-made, organic beauty products.

The event was organised by the FPTA, who organised the pamper evening as part of Mother’s Day celebrations.  Previously, funds from events like this have enabled the school to buy several items to benefit all the students.  This has included fitness equipment for PE, lighting for Drama, staging for the Hall, cameras, outdoor seating and musical instruments.

The FPTA also run events such as student discos, Quiz Nights and, in particular, the Summer Fayre, which is traditionally a large fundraiser for the school.
