This year, following the lunar calendar, the lunar New Year falls on Friday the 16th of February 2018. Also referred to as spring festival, it’s the year of the dog! So those people born in 2018, 2006, 1994,  1982 and so on are considered to be a ‘dog’, one of the animals which competed in the ‘the great race’- an event which helped decide the order of the Chinese zodiac.
