International Women’s day is just around the corner of which it is celebrated on Thursday, 8 march but do many of us understand the importance of this day? It is a worldwide event that celebrates women’s achievements- from the political to the social- while raising awareness of gender equality. Additionally, the day is marked with talks, conferences, rallies, art performances and networking events, all of which many find this to be one of their “favourite events.”

Eltham Hill School is celebrating this special day by hosting a conference for the students to learn about topics that fall under the many categories of International Women’s day and selected students will attend the conference at Plumsted Manor School where intriguing conversations awaits them.

Riju Prasi, a student who attends Eltham Hill School gives us an insight into what she thinks about this event, “International Women’s day aims to teach various themes such as innovation, the portrayal of women in media, or the importance of education and career opportunities. My absolute favourite part of this day is discussing and listening with the people around me but also the free breakfast in the morning.”
