Earlier this week, I watched Marvel’s Black Panther and it was incredible. Whether you are a Marvel fan or not, I can guarantee that this film is a must-see and definitely worth the watch!

In the film, Chadwick Boseman acts as Black Panther and the king of afro futuristic Wakanda, an African nation. However, conflict arises when his position is challenged. He must defeat his enemies to secure the fate of Wakanda and his people.

One of the many reasons ‘Black Panther’ is such a huge hit is the diversity. The film offers an amazing cast full of African and American actors. ‘Black Panther’ breaks the Marvel superhero stereotypes by introducing a predominantly black cast. It celebrates African culture and highlights the strengths of black women as they are presented as warriors, scientists and queens.

Whilst watching the film, the first thing that caught my attention was the beauty of Wakanda. After the film had ended, I came to the realisation that Wakanda isn’t real; it is a fictional place. ‘Black Panther’ was actually filmed all over the world! The locations included: Busan in South Korea, Iguazu Falls in Argentina, Zambia and Uganda. My favourite scenes were the ones shot at the stunning waterfalls. Wakanda’s scenery is absolutely phenomenal.

The characters were very much loved by the fans. ‘Black Panther’ includes a strong hero yet also develops many other important characters in the film. Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan play powerful characters; their final showdown is rather spectacular! Danai Gurari redefines the female warrior as fierce and beautiful. Other characters, such as Shuri, Nakia and Everett add comedy and colour to the film too.

To top it off, the film’s soundtrack is very empowering. Curated by Kendrick Lamar and TDE’s Anthony Tiffith, the album is incorporates hip-hop, afro beats and soul. The music definitely made certain scenes more memorable.

After watching ‘Black Panther’, I am sure that the film was a huge step forward for both Marvel and Hollywood.  It is now the “#1 movie in the world” so evidently the film has been a huge success. It has already made over $700M! Stereotypically, black cats are deemed to be unlucky, but after watching ‘Black Panther’, more black cats are being adopted and bought. If you have not watch ‘Black Panther’ yet, I really recommend it! Michelle Obama even tweeted about it with high praise. #WakandaForever
