The junior golf academy with a cherry on top!

If you have ever been to Cherry Lodge golf club on a Sunday morning, you may have been surprised to find so many juniors practicing or playing with the professionals. This is due to the weekly junior academy that has been a regular occurrence since 2016. Professional Tod Adcock expresses his admiration for them, why the club has them, and why "every club" should do the same.

The club first began the lessons because it is "very important for pro's to grow people's game and increase interest," and it also "makes it fun" during the introduction to golf. He added that these juniors will be "members for life" so they must be introduced in the best possible way. Tod believes that they have been effective as there has been "a lot progression on to the course, from chipping and putting to honing power on the driving range, to real games." However he likes them not only for the technical progression, but because he "enjoys" the coaching and "the smiles when his students hit the ball a long way." For these reasons, Tod stated that "every club should do it" as it is "part of a PGA club's role." Meanwhile, Tod continues to witness the progression of young members, alongside the other professionals who are all eager to encourage their future stars.
