2017 Has been quite a year. Some major events have happened, whether it be political or celebrity gossip, a lot has changed. Some of the events could even be said to change the world (for example) Trump’s Inauguration and the fact that Britain Triggered Article 50. The year had many highs and many lows, but what is to look forward to in the new and exciting 2018?

GCSEs are about to drastically change as well as the A-Levels. Now, instead of having letters as grades, there is a new number system in place. With 9 (estimated to be an A**) being the highest and 1 being the lowest (estimated to be a U) there is a lot of pressure on the students, especially as the current year elevens are the ‘guinea pigs’ of the new system. There is much talk about the number grades and whether or not it will work, how hard it will be and how much of the A-Level work has been brought down to suit the system.

How will Britain cope around the struggles of Brexit? A question many people would like answered. Will we become a small Island that is ignored by other nations or will we be able to use our ‘freedom’ to start new ventures? Perhaps the pressure becomes too high for the politicians to agree a way forward so that another referendum is needed.

One happy event to look out for in 2018 is the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This is a great event to look forward to as the Royal Family expand further.

Perhaps 2018 will be the year where peace in the world is finally resolved and kept or one step further to resolving, where deathly threats from country to country are no more. I wish you all an amazing new year and to all the students I wish them good luck!
