On Saturday 4th November, Sevenoaks held their annual fireworks and bonfire night. It is extremely popular with everyone: families, friends, individuals, teenagers etc. It is also popular with people who do not just live in Sevenoaks, but also in surrounding towns like Maidstone, Gravesend and Tunbridge. It is known as “one of the best community firework events in South-East England”.

The event began at 5pm in Sevenoaks high street, for a torch light procession. Which takes those watching the fireworks to the Sevenoaks School field for the Sevenoaks Round Table fireworks display. The Sevenoaks School field has a large capacity (able to fit 4,000+ people) allowing many people to come and join, one of the main reasons for its high popularity.

Following the torch light procession, those watching the fireworks pursue the walk to the Sevenoaks School field to view the spectacular fireworks. The firework display is 30 minutes along with 2000 tones of fireworks to be used. During the display music is played to assist the fireworks as people sing along and dance. The fireworks are choreographed to fit the music time and beat, granting the fireworks display become more entertaining for those watching.

As well as the magnificent fireworks and a toasty, warm bonfire the event provides a range of food stalls, glow stick stalls and a music stage in the high street. All in all, the event creates a delightful evening for everyone. Whether they are just following the torch procession, watching the fireworks or both; it is an enjoyable evening.
