The skies above Dartford Central Park were lit up Saturday evening with one of Kent’s biggest firework displays, attended by thousands of spectators.

Wet weather earlier that day cleared up in time for the celebrations to begin, with displays being held across the region.

Hundreds of people thronged to the park to see the firework display and witness the huge bonfire.  The crowds included residents, businesses and organisations from across the area, with tickets costing £5 for adults and £3 for children in advance (£1 more when bought at the gate).

The annual event, organised by the Dartford Lions club, raised thousands of pounds for charity.

Before the main display, at 7:15 pm, people gathered to watch the magnificent bonfire and burning an effigy of Guy Fawkes.

The fairground was also in full swing, ensuring residents and visitors enjoyed a great Bonfire Night celebration.  To keep the festive atmosphere going, light-up toys were offered, as well as food and drink stalls serving hot chocolate, hot dogs, s’mores and much more.

The fireworks commenced at 8 pm.  Elaine, 49, who attended the display with her family, said: ‘Tonight’s firework display was fantastic!  It is a really well-organised event and it’s good to know that the money raised will support local groups and organisations.’
