On the 24th of April there was one of the most moving and inspiring events of the year, the London Marathon. The marathon started with a former Olympian who had competed in lots of race throughout his career and had just came back from the New York Marathon and loved the support as well as the way the general public and runners came together in competition to complete one big race. Where people were pushed and encouraged to run, jog even just stroll the whole marathon for a good cause. The Marathon this year as usual had all the elite runners trying to get their best time and break world records. After the elite runners had gotten about half way the people of Great Britain started their race, with people running for different reasons and charities. People dressed up as Captain America, George and the Dragon and many other crazy and unusual costumes.

The main charity that was really targeted during this year’s marathon was Head Together which is a charity making awareness of mental health and the helping people who have gone through or have had mental health issues. As well as helping people overcome the state they are in and supporting them out of it. This year’s London Marathon really touched me as I really loved hearing all the people stories from people just like me and how they are making a difference to solve the problem their charities were supporting. This charity Head Together in particular really made me thinks about all people who have suffered or overcome a mental illness. That they had so much perseverance and will power to go race and raise money make a change so countless people could be helped. It really got me to understand that someone with an injury or illness doesn’t always present with a physical ailment.
