On Saturday 22nd April, it was Earth Day (or as of 2009, International Mother Earth Day) . 192 countries all came together on the same day to raise awareness and celebrate the wonder that is our Earth. The Earth Day Network, the organization behind the Earth Day movement, works with over 22000 partners, to help to coordinate the day all over the globe. It works to raise and help with any environmental concerns certain people/countries may have.

Various activities take place on this day to help the Earth and educate others on how they too can keep the Earth a healthy pace to live. For example, during the weeks surrounding Earth Day, many volunteers take their time to clean rubbish out of the streets, plant new trees and educate others on climate change and how they should "reduce, reuse and recycle" their used items.

Here are just a few facts about Earth Day to motivate you to help nature and not participate in its decline:

-Half the world’s tropical and temperate forests are now gone due to climate change

-Today more than 1 billion people participate in earth day activities each year to make it one of the most largest movement on earth

-On Earth Day 2012, over 100,000 people in China rode bikes to reduce CO2 emissions and save fuel
