On Saturday 15th April, children will have the opportunity to join in on one of the biggest events of the school holiday year…The Easter Egg Hunt!

This event will be held in Kelsey Park, in the heart of Beckenham. The park we know and enjoy today was opened over 100 years ago, in 1913. The opening ceremony of the park took place on 31st May 1913. In addition to the splendid natural settings the park provides, there is a variety of permanent activities in place at the park. These range from the popular mini golf and children’s playground, to the dedicated and fascinating Heron Watch group, who meet regularly to gaze upon these majestic birds. It is a haven for all kinds of flora and fauna, with over 100 kinds of trees and over 65 species of birds having been recorded, a huge variety of flowers in the spectacular herbaceous border, and a vast array of wildlife. ‘There is something here for everyone - from rose gardens, water features, and nature trails, to tennis courts and a mini golf course, to a café and playground’ says secretary Carole Tyrrell. It is clear that the park welcomes all, making it a superb venue for this happy and jubilant Easter event.

Therefore, once a year Kelsey Park hosts one of the most anticipated events in the Beckenham Calendar: The Easter Egg Hunt. Open exclusively for children aged 2-8 years, the Easter Egg Hunt provides an exciting and safe way to celebrate Easter with all the family. Tickets and badges are on sale at the café, mini-golf or Information Centre. But hurry, these tickets won’t last long. The hunt should take your children on a journey through the park, across all of its trademark features. These include both manmade activities like Mini Golf, to the wonders of Mother Nature, reflected in the number of waterfalls, large lake and rivers, and between the stumps of historic Oak trees.

What could be better than absorbing the fresh air and wonderful views of the lake and wildlife of Kelsey Park, combined with an exciting event for children on a beautiful Spring afternoon?
