The recent Storm Doris has affected and left an impact on all of us here in South-East England. From the very young primary school children to the more elderly residents, no one has failed to notice the vicious, icy winds nor the constant downpour of rain. Even through closed doors, one could still hear the gust abusing everything in its way. The uprooted tree in the above picture is a small piece of evidence of what Storm Doris has left in its wake.

There have been disruptions on the roads, increasing traffic and ultimately causing great inconvenience to a great number of people. For example not being able to get to work, or school on time. There have also been numerous train delays and even cancellations due to the heavy gusts that Storm Doris brought. Therefore a huge number of people had no ways of travelling to, from or even through London.  During the course of the day, trains that were running had been restricted to a certain speed limit in wary of the hazardous winds. Many of the public have experienced electricity power cuts, adding majorly to the inconvenience of this storm. Furthermore, Storm Doris has caused a loss of life and many injuries.

Walking to and from school has been especially hard for those students that live further away. When asked about her journey to school on the morning of Storm Doris, a Year 10 student, studying at Newstead Wood School who wished not to be named, replied: “It was such an inconvenience because two of my trains were cancelled and the third one was delayed. So we were really late to school!”

With one out of the way, it is predicted that another is yet to come!
