Langley Park Golf Club is hosting a traditional burns night evening on Saturday 28th January. A night full of traditional Scottish food, with Haggis, Neeps and Tatties all served up with Scottish entertainment. Events like these at Langley Park are not to be missed, with a guarantee of a great night out with friends and family. Why not embrace the tradition of our northern neighbours by enjoying traditional food cooked with love by professional chefs?

Burns Night is a celebration of the life and writing of the poet Robert Burns (1759-1796), author of many Scottish poems. The dinners are held on or near the poet's birthday, 25 January, also known as Robert Burns Day. The first supper was held at Burns Cottage by Robert Burns' friends on 21 July 1801, the fifth anniversary of his death. Burns suppers may be formal or informal, typically including haggis, Scotch whisky and the reading of Burns's poetry.

A piper generally greets the guests, who gather and mix as at any informal party. At less formal gatherings traditional Scottish music is played, which is a delightful addition to already thriving atmosphere created at Langley Park.

This particular evening will serve Cock-a-Leekie Soup, Haggis Neeps and Tatties, Roast Beef (with all the trimmings!), Raspberry Cranachan or Cheese and Biscuits and Coffee. Every Burns Supper has its own special form and flavour, though there are probably more similarities than differences among these gastro-literary affairs. Individual tastes and talents will determine the character of your Burns Supper. Langley Park offers a gracious host and a foolhardy chairman, with friendly celebrants (you and your friends) and a good Scottish drink to keep you warm and satisfied. Upon speaking with one of the event’s organisers and managers, Jenny enlightened me on what makes Langley Park so perfect for hosting this special event: ‘Our service and friendly atmosphere combined with a spacious setting provides a place with enough room and heat to host this event’. She also added how ‘our staff’s relationship with the guest adds to the friendly and relaxed feel of the evening, for many already know those they are serving, creating this relaxed atmosphere that you can expect from Langley Park Golf Club’.

Overall, Burns Night at Langley Park Golf Club is one that you cannot miss. Offering a great evening with a splendid setting, Langley Park is the place to be on the 25th January.
