On the 15th December was Bromley high schools carol service,a service that happens yearly. We made our way to St Georges church service at 1pm a 10 minute walk from Bromley high.Once we had arrived our ears were welcomed by the sound of the organ playing by Mrs Claire. Our school was arranged all around the church seated in rows.
First we sang the popular carol Once in royal David's city the first verse was sang by a member of our cantabile choir from six form she sang beautifully and made the song a very great introduction to the carol service.Once we had sung the first carol we were read a bidding prayer by Father Richard Norman the priest of St Georges church.A year seven called Olivia Yetzes read a passage called Bethlehem, the passage was read with a clear projected voice which I found very impressive as she is a new comer to the school and didn't show a hint or shyness which I think is a first after Olivia had finished her reading we sang Silent Night my favourite Carol. The next reading was then said by Imogen Rydell in year 10 the passage was called A Refugees story this reading was very touching as these subjects aren't spoken about very often so was nice to hear at the Carol service once that was read. The very skilful pocoflutes then played deck the halls and we wish you a merry Christmas adding their own twist which made the songs sound very different but more modern and in my opinion a bit better than the originals. Mr Viljoen our science teacher played the trumpet to another Christmas Carol, he is a professional trumpet player so played very well and executed the playing of the pieces to a very excellent standard.
The third reading was read by the head girl Clare sylvester ,the reading was called Living Christmas each day she read with much projection in her voice making her voice sound very strong. The cantabile choir then sang all bells in paradise an original composition by Sophie Oliver in year 12,this piece was outstanding especially because it was composed by a member of the six form, the piece was very impressive indeed.Kurt Ringmo a member of the staff then read the fourth reading The man who hated Christmas a different type of reading reminded me much of Mr Scrooge in a Christmas Carol. The Cantabile choir sang once again they sang a Christmas lullaby called rutter. The whole school then sang another carol with members of the the cantabile choir beautifully singing the other versus.Lucinda Goddard sang the second  verse,Bhanavi Kumar sang the third,Annie Thorpe sang the fourth all amazing singers once that carol was sung Father Richard Norman read the intercession prayer. The fifth reading was read by our headmistress Mrs Drew, she read Luke Chapter 2 versus 1-20 from the bible. This reading reminded me of what Christmas is really about and I sure it reminded the rest of the school as well. Finally we ended the wonderful service with O come all he faithful the traditional Christmas Carol.
