Help! My Pancakes Are Pink!

Today has marked the traditional day of shrove Tuesday, or more notoriously known as 'pancake day'. And despite the headline of this article the pancakes I made were intentionally made pink.. as well as purple and the standard yellow toned pancake colour.

Making pastel pancakes is a modern twist on the classic style and can make the decoration of the pancakes that bit more fun, especially when you can use different cutters to create a wide array of snazzy shapes.

Here is the recipe I followed for you to try at home:
Ingredients list:
- 110g plain flour
- 2 eggs
- A pinch of salt
- 200ml of milk
- Food colouring of your choice
- A sprinkle of Caster sugar and granulated sugar
- A squeeze of lemon
- 50g butter
- Cookie cutters (optional)

Step one: sieve the plain flour and salt into a large mixing bowl.
Step two: make a well in the centre of the bowl and crack the 2 eggs in the middle and whisk the mixture, incorporating all the flour with the spoon.
Step three: gradually add in the milk as you are mixing so that the mixture becomes fairly runny.
Step four: separate the mixture into different bowls and mix in the food colourings of your choice.
Step five: when the mixtures are liquidised enough, heat a saucepan on medium heat and coat the saucepan with the butter to grease the pan.
Step six: pour in the various mixtures at a time fairly quickly cooking the pancake mixture until solid.
Step seven: you can use the cookie cutters of your choice to make different shapes out of the pancakes, or leave them round as they are.
Step eight: garnish pancakes with sugar, lemon and any other decoration that you desire.
Step nine: Bon appetite!

Enjoy!
