Several thousand vegans gathered at Alexander Palace to attend the ‘Vegan Life Live’ event.

At 9:30 AM this morning- the gates of Alexandra Palace opened. The event attracted crowds from all over London- with those who have adopted a vegan and vegetarian lifestyle bringing family and friends along to the famous venue’s first Vegan-hosted event.

After entering the building, ticket holders were greeted with free gift bags. These included coupons, leaflets, free samples and several whole products- including a tub of dairy free pesto.

The event was hosted by ‘Cook Vegan’ and ‘Vegan Life Magazine’, with the area split into several sections including a brewery bar, cinema and Veganuary room. From January, the concept ‘Veganuary’ was composed. This is the idea that a person will adopt the lifestyle as a part of their New Year’s resolution. It has also become a challenge amongst vegans- challenging their friends and family to take on the lifestyle for the month, or even a few days.

There were also over 100 stands which ranged from cruelty-free fashion brands to restaurants, taking the opportunity to advertise their products- with exclusive ‘Veganuary’ offers, free samples and demonstrations.

Veganism is a recently trending lifestyle, which has largely attracted the younger audience. ‘When I was on holiday I ate this amazing cake and the waiter told me it was vegan. I was shocked. I realised that I won’t really miss out much, taking on this lifestyle’- Lulu Jenkins, 14, who attended the event.

With the rise of veganism contributing to an enormous turnout, the family-friendly event turned out a huge success. There is certainly the promise for more vegan based events in the coming year.
