On the evening of Halloween, October 30th, a gang of teenagers attacked passing cars and pedestrians with fireworks at a local roundabout up near Oakwood station, Enfield. The teenage males clearly set themselves the evening task of intimidating and threatening passer byers - allegedly spending “over 2 hours in the area” according to local neighbours. They were said to have been driving around on motorbikes throwing fireworks at whatever was passing - “They didn’t care who got hurt, they obviously just thought it was fun”. The neighbours watched from windows as cars attempted to swerve the fireworks, edging in and out of the roads in attempt to figure out when best to drive speedily away.

A group to young girls aged 17 on the way to a Halloween party, attempted to pass through the area unaware of what was occurring. They could here noises at the roundabout but obviously assumed the rowdiness what just people out trick or treating, or getting jolly on the way to a party like themselves. When they arrived closer to the scene, they realised the mayhem going on was much more serious. “Cars were beeping, swerving, loud bangs were going off, motorbikes were roaring and then we actually saw the fireworks” stated one of the girls. After her friend’s narrow miss of a colourful explosion to the leg, the girls quickly diverted their route, trying their best not to attract the cyclist-bombers attentions. “It was traumatic” said one of the girls; “I actually feared for my life”.

It certainly was a scary Halloween for the residents and commuters near Oakwood station; however thankfully nobody was actually reported injured or had any property damaged. The night held a lot of treats for those at local Halloween events, but the alarming and dangerous acts of these teenage hooligans was certainly one of the area's scariest tricks of all time.
