Is social media a positive light that has shone on our lives or rather a dark shadow that has been cast instead? I know from personal experience that the majority of my classmates are on one social media platform or the other such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat; I mean you name it, us teenagers have got it. I guess the followers, the likes, the comments on these platforms get addictive after a while right? You casually scroll through someone's Instagram feed imagining the picture perfect life their living, the complete body goals and physiques they possess I mean why can't you have that? Why can't you seem to wake up every day looking flawless with a bright smile from ear to ear? Well hate to break it to you but those scenes that have been captured picture perfectly and uploaded on Social media, have taken careful curating and seamless angles to present them in the most flattering way possible. So stop and think about the careful positioning of each object, each angle, each shaft of light, it's not a reality but another form of art. Essentially what I'm telling or rather exposing to you are the lies that you dream about having because not everyone visits Private Islands every other day and not everyone's toned to the point where they get to bask in the glory of #bodygoals. Please the youth of today, I ask you to stop torturing your body to look like the social influencers you follow, to stop having a depressed state of mind because you think your life is much worse than theirs because guess what? everyone's flaws can be hidden behind a camera lense. So to conclude, I feel like everyone should live in the present to truly enjoy what they have most instead of comparing themselves to others and hating their own life as a result.
