This day is not for those that are gullible as many people take the liberty to come up with elaborate pranks in order to fool the people around them. But, does anyone actually know where this day originated from? seems as if there is some clarity to the situation due to the humorous day being so old that it apparently has an early mention in a poem written by a Flemish Poet. The poem is devised of witty verses about a servant and his master whom takes advantage of his poor servant by sending him on ludicrous errands to get ready for a wedding feast. The title of the poem more or less conveys the meaning "Refrain on errand-day / which is the first of April” which connotes perhaps the way April fools may have originated. Another source of speculation is that German Journalists are to blame for this popularised date. Apparently German newspapers were famous for printing fake news (much like Facebook today) on 1st April which may have publicised the actual day into what it is deemed to be now. However, April fools was at first much more a day of physical pranks. Now with the dawn of social media, it has soared in attention as international pranks can be carried out to make a huge number of people feel like a fool for one special day.
