The roads were covered today by vast amounts of snow, stumping some weather forecasts which didn’t expect the overnight blizzard.

Naturally, this took a few Londoners by surprise, with one remarking, “ It hasn’t snowed this much since 2012!! I can’t believe that it’s been snowing so much these past few days! It’s a hassle to get to work as my journey includes walking but hey! It’s not like this happens often! Unfortunately, I’ve heard that many children are getting colds because of the weather and I hope they get better soon.”

The snow has received mixed reviews, with some being overjoyed. The park near my house was full of children. At least 3 children utilised the opportunity to take out their bobsleds and ride them through the snow. Sarah (who was also in the park) was brimming with joy, the eight year old commenting,” The snow looks really pretty! I didn’t go school today so I’m really happy!! I want it to snow everyday so I don’t have to go school!”

Others, however, weren’t as pleased or optimistic... Alice expressed her distaste and annoyance at the snow by pointing out that “ it is very cold!! Now that I am elderly , my body isn’t as strong as it used to be! I didn’t want to go outside as my fingers will freeze to death even with gloves on and I’m scared I’ll hurt my back even more if I slip. Snow is slippery and I already have back problems! But I had to go and buy groceries today as I ran out of milk. I’m crossing my fingers that when I wake up tomorrow, the snow will melt. Good riddance I say!”

On her way to the corner shop, Alice saw an inappropriate drawing on the window of a car, carved using the snow that was covering it. She wished to send a message to the people who did such “vile acts” and hopes that “instead of vandalizing vehicles, even if it’s temporary, they should do something more productive with their time or help society somehow.”
