Have you ever been told you’re too young to do something? Or perhaps the opposite – that you’re too old?

Each teenager in this day and era can wholeheartedly say yes, they have been told that. In fact, it’s such a complicated age of being almost an adult but not quite that we’re told this almost every other day. And, it is infuriating. We’re constantly being put down by those who are older and so, by assumption, ‘wiser’ and we begin to believe it ourselves and limit what we believe we can achieve.

However, many adults often forget that we are born in an era of the very prominent threat of a nuclear war, the imminent Brexit and an uncertain future. We are so much more socially aware of our surroundings and are constantly protesting against any injustices that we face. As cliché as it sounds, we are the future. When the time comes, it will be our responsibility to shoulder all these crisis’ we’re facing and make the world a better place than the one we are living in currently.

Some may argue that I am digressing but it is important to realise that we are not as lazy and stupid as everybody makes us out to be. There are many pivotal changes occurring and it’s vital that we do not allow everybody’s ‘you can’t do that’ to alter our ideas and beliefs. Especially now.

This year, the biggest limitation we all will experience will be ourselves. We need to boost our own esteems and continue to plunder through, even when unsure. Whether it be on a national scale on a long protest or something personal like applying for a job. We shouldn’t stop to think about what will go wrong but, instead, what will go right.
