Walthamstow Central’s well-known mall, The Mall Walthamstow, has taken a new appearance.

After several months of refurbishment and construction, The Mall has added to its variety of stores and eateries with a new Turkish restaurant, a gym and another supermarket retailer.

Following the closure of BHS in late 2016, The Mall signed a deal with the renowned gym company, The Gym, to provide an effective 24-hour gym service for Walthamstow citizens.

Only a few months after, Lidl also signed a deal with The Mall, in which they decided to place their store in a section of the remaining area of what The Gym was using.

Both are now open with the entrances of The Gym and Lidl standing adjacent to Selborne Road, on Walthamstow High Street, but span through The Mall on Selborne Road.

However, The Mall is currently continuing to renovate its former BHS site by using the remainder of the space left for a well-celebrated Turkish restaurant, Gökyüzü.

Gökyüzü’s chain have received a lot of recognition for its ‘authentic and fabulously fresh Turkish dining in London’ after its success in its other two sites, in Chingford and Haringey Green Lanes.

The new restaurant is due to open next month.

Since The Mall has been taking on a different image with a renewed essence, local residents have been bouncing off the walls.

‘As much as I am going to miss the original mall as I grew up around it, I think that they’re making it better and improving it in a beneficial way as there is going to be more shops and restaurants available to us locally, so we don’t have to go somewhere else to get what need’, says Dalia Yahi.

The Mall continues to be is covered in posters saying: ‘The Mall is going to be a better place to shop than ever…Good things come to those who wait…’, embracing that its present and future will only speak for newer, better and greater experiences.
