‘Cruelty can be found in every stitch of a Canada goose jacket’ (Lavender, PETA campaigner).
Canada Goose: a self-proclaimed ‘luxury apparel’ company, notorious for its supposedly ‘ethically sourced down and fur’. However, it must be questioned in what way this apparel is ‘ethical’ when Coyotes are being trapped, shot, slaughtered and skinned simply to line a coat? And what is so ‘luxurious’ about garments which holds the fur of coyotes which have suffered blood loss, shock, dehydration, frostbite, gangrene and even chewed off their own limbs? Apparently, these questions are irrelevant or merely unimportant to the expanding global market of Canada Goose buyers, as shown by the soaring US sales of the brand reaching $30 million this year and celebrities such as Amy Schumer and Hugh Jackman, flaunting these furs trimmed jackets in the public eye.
When speaking to other wearers of these items about the cruelty allegations, feeble excuses were made such as ‘they have already been killed now’ and ‘by the time I had heard about the allegations I had already bought the jacket, so may as well wear it now’. Although it is true the coyotes are already killed by the time these jackets have been produced and bought, the company is continuing to expand- now being sold in over 50 countries. This needs to be stopped.
Other brainwashed civilians succumb to Canada Goose’s recently issued statement in which the company argue they ‘do not condone any wilful mistreatment, neglect, or acts that maliciously cause undue pain, injury, or suffering towards animals’. Nevertheless, this response is blatantly transparent when watching videos of tortured Cayotes experiencing the epitome of ‘wilful mistreatment’. Canada Goose also stated they are ‘deeply committed to animal welfare and the responsible use and ethical sourcing of all animal materials in our products’. When looking at the facts, as previously explored, it is exposed these are merely empty words.
It is an abomination that in London 2018, corporations like this still dominate the streets. Even worse is the hypocrisy that 542,000 people in Britain now supposedly follow a ‘vegan’ lifestyle and the PETA (people for the ethical treatment of animals) has 5,385,200 likes on Facebook yet these supposedly ‘ethical vegans’ condone this cruelty and violence.
