THROWING AWAY CASH

This year over 70% of the United Kingdom’s population celebrated one of the biggest, if not the biggest celebration of the year, CHRISTMAS!

Every year around 45million people in the United Kingdom celebrate Christmas and every time each person spends a lot of money on presents for their families and friends. The average person in the United Kingdom spends around £1,500 on new presents for their loved ones. The real question is though, is this money well spent or is it wasted.

Christmas is a Christian festival that is held to celebrate the birth of Christ. As it is considered to be a religious festival many people got to church on Christmas day to say vows and make promises to god and to celebrate the birth of Christ. However in the modern period, Christmas has turned into a festival of giving and receiving presents. It can be considered as a festival where many people celebrate it as they are getting something in return. Although the idea of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Christ, throughout the passing years, the idea of the festival has changed completely.

As the years pass on more and more people every year continue to stop going to church and instead use this time to open presents that have been bought for them. Many people can debate on whether buying presents is a waste of money and if all this money could be used elsewhere as Christmas is not a festival where you are supposed to be giving and receiving gifts.

The modern day society has shown how and what they think Christmas is all about, however this isn’t the only way Christmas should be celebrated now.
