New York ban vaping in indoor areas and workplaces.

With New York being the busiest city in the US, many citizens were clearly against the popular vaping craze. The e-cigarette industry now represents a $2.5-billion institution, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. This excessive amount of popularity has evidently accumulated an extreme income however this ban has become apparent as while the health consequences of the product are little understood, there are still reasons for concern, including nicotine addiction. In 2016, the New York State Department of Health created a study showing that 20 percent of children had tried an electronic cigarette product, double from just two years prior. In July, the New York state banned e-cigarettes from all school grounds. Alternatively, proponents of devices like e-cigs and vaporizers say they are a safer alternative to cigarettes and may help with smoking termination. This new law states that by late November, e-cigarettes will be prohibited anywhere traditional cigarettes are already banned in New York State, including workplaces, restaurants and bars. Electronic cigarettes were added to the state’s Clean Indoor Air Act this summer by the State Assembly the original act having been around since 2003, when smoking tobacco products in public indoor areas was first banned in the state, one of the country’s first of such measures. Many e-cigarette smokers do not see the negative effects of them with one stating that the ban is “absolutely absurd”. Clearly this ban has caused controversy within the public of New York with many protests already occurring.
