Woodford County High School’s annual spotlight moment was upon the world on the 16th of Decemberand again, it was a whopping success. A large variety of plays and musicals were performed by the respectibe houses complete with an ensemble of jaw dropping choreography and melodious orchestra providing music at every occasion.

On the day of the competition, the school was bright with spirit and cheer. However, the underlying tension and competitive streak of every student as well as teachers from rival houses could be felt with each stare, each handshake, each smile. And although the students at Woodford County put up a united front, there was no denying the pressure to be the best house. Classes for Years 9 – 11 were cancelled due to rehearsal and students literred the hallways in their costumes and props. It was as if preparantions for the Grammys were in full swing!

Woodford County’s honorary four houses go by the names of Repton, Warner, Highams and Newton; and each house delivered an outstanding performance. However, as with any competition, there could only be one winner. And so, Repton took home the crown for “Best House Drama” with their own vivid performance of Hairspray, a musical starring Zac Efron that promotes awareness of segregation. However, all is well with the students of Woodford County High who all remained in good spirits of another outstanding year of amazing creativity.
