Teens and their food choices....

It is very common to come across a teenager who regurlarly eats junk food, for example: KFC, Mcdonalds, Crisps, etc.  But why...?

Walk out to your local shopping centre, or even down your local shopping 'street', you would realise that the number of unhealthy, junk food stores out number the food stores selling fresh, healthy and appealing food. This is one of the main reasons why junk food is incredibly popular, becuase we're surrounded by it. If we were to reduce the numbver of local Mcdonalds and increase the number of appealing healthy stores, we would see a reduced amount of teens eating junk.

Another big problem is that healthy foods are far more expenisve than unhealthy foodS, a complete meal at mcdonalds could cost you the same as getting a single box of strawberries, and half the price of getting a heathier meal from Sainsbury's. When junk food is cheaper than healthy foods, more teens would see it as a better financial option.

'I can walk 50 steps to get cheaper, tastier food, but id have to walk 3 times that distance, which would take me longer, and i would have to pay more for less appealing food' - Secondary school student

'Its better worth for the money.' -  Hannah Gerrish

so in order to combat this food crisis, we would have to get more appealing, cheaper, and closer healthy foods, which does seem like a huge step to tackle.
