On January 20th 2017 the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States took place. This marked commencement of the four year term of Donald trump as president and Mike Pence as vice president. An estimated amount of 160,000 people attended the public ceremony held on Friday 20th January in Washington D.C.  Trump Is not only the oldest and wealthiest president to be inaugurated as president, but also the first president without military and or governmental service experience. During his speech the President made a few statements that really concerned people not only in the US but all around the world as they were watching on their televisions. During the inauguration, protests were happening all over the US to show that they will not allow a leader like Trump to stop them from their beliefs and they will not allow him and his ideas of how to ‘make America great again’ affect them and their lives. When asked about Trump as President, Amal Aftab (16) responded by stating that “A leader is someone we look up to, someone with large responsibilities for not just their country but for decisions effecting many countries. Personally I think that Donald Trump’s hands are too small to hold this immense amount of power”. Rebecca Ogbonna (16) responded in a similar way, “America is supposed to be the land of the free, but if innocent civilians are not able to enter a place they consider their home, without being discriminated then we have nothing good to gain from Trump’s America”. As shown many people of all ages, religion, culture, etc., have stated that being president is not the ideal job for Trump, but we need to use this bad situation that has occurred to help resolve the issues that have been created since Trump’s presidency. The day after his inauguration, a whole gender was protesting against him, millions of people not only in the US and not just females protested against Trump and his sexist views against women, and similarly protests have been occurring at LAX airport due to Trump’s travel ban that has prevented people of 7 countries (all Islamic states) from entering the US for 90 days. Although Trump will be President for 4 years, a lot can change as shown by only after a week of him being president, but this will just make us as humans stronger and fight towards what we believe is right.
