Could you turn £200 into £2000 and then give it away?

During the course of November and December a group of young teenagers began raising money for a charity called Orphans in Need, who are an organisation working towards giving orphans all around the world a better standard of living and a future to look forward to. They do this by providing sustainable solutions and not just emergency relief. Orphans in need supply vulnerable children with basic necessities that they lack such as clothing, food, medicine and education. The charity help widows and orphans in places like Gaza, Somalia, Gambia, Iraq, India, Nepal, Mali, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

They group or girls have called themselves the 'PEACE PROJECT' (protect educate aid children everywhere). They have fundraised by setting up a just giving page on which people can donate to them. they have also held bake sales and sold sweets. The PEACE Project have also held a 'hot chocolate - walk to school' where they promoted walking to school and sold hot chocolate. All of the money they raised will go directly to orphans in need to help young orphans and widows.

During the Christmas break PEACE walked from Stratford Westfield to Shepherd Bush Westfield on 23rd December to their selves in the shoes of the Orphans where they have to walk miles for basic necessities like water every day.

The girls have raised just over £2000 in the course of 2 months thanks to everyone who made charitable donations towards them.

"We were given a enterprise project to take part in where we would turn £200 into £2000, and at first it seemed really hard and almost unachievable but when we began we realised people actually cared and made donations whole heartedly and we had already raised more than we needed. It became more personal rather than just a  project" - Evelyn, a member of PEACE.
