With over 200 pupils involved, from all year groups, in the academic year’s largest production, months of planning boiled down to two sell-out nights of entertainment. 14 years since its conception, Taal at Bancroft’s has become an integral part of the calendar and a much-anticipated school event, celebrating South Asian culture. Driven entirely by students, as part of the larger Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Muslim Society (HSBM), Friday 9th and Saturday 10th December saw the fruits of months of choreographing, directing, script-writing and administration.

The four presidents (Karan Shah, Shreya Sheth, Harleen Sian and Umayair Ullah) all remarked upon the incredible efforts and dedication the cast of over 200 students put in. Indeed, for many Taal has become a brilliant showcase of hidden talents and a chance to take real pride in the diverse, multicultural and celebratory community at Bancroft’s School. Once again, following on from the enormous successes of the BACS Carnival, and Arts fundraiser, Bancroftians have demonstrated creativity, organisational skills and true commitment to their cause. Thanks to a sponsored silence, Krispy Kreme sales and other fundraisers, the Taal production has also generated thousands of pounds for many worthy charities. Among the list of organisations receiving a donation includes Friendsline, United World Schools, and Alzheimer’s Research UK (which bares personal significance for Taal President Karan Shah).
