How to deal with exam stress
What can exam stress do to you:
Exam stress can start when you feel you can't cope with revision, or feel pressure from your school or family.
- Symptoms of exam stress.
- Difficulty getting to sleep or difficulty waking up in the morning
- Constant tiredness
- Forgetfulness
- Unexplained aches and pains
- Poor appetite
- Loss of interest in activities
- Increased anxiety and irritability
- Increased heart rate
- Migraines/headaches
Tips for coping with stress:
Exams can sometimes seem like a hopeless or pointless endeavour. But for most of us, exams do have a purpose and there are a number of coping strategies which can be used to diminish the stress to an appropriate level.
- Go for a walk or do some exercise
- Listening to calming music
- Eat right - eating fresh fruit and vegetables can fuel your brain as well as your body
- Avoid comparing yourself - everyone approaches revision in different ways so focus on yourself and find a method suitable for you.
- DON'T PANIC- take deep breaths and remember exam are not the end!
- Drink WATER !
Everyone gets stressed during exams but it's important not to let it get out of control.
