The 30th April finally marks the opening of a new coffee and bread house – ‘Munch and Wiggles’ in Oxshott. Oxshott is a quaint, picturesque village with a small number of independent shops but is a busy thoroughfare with access to the A3 and trains to London. The villagers of the Oxshott have desired a café or bakery near their homes for 9 years and are incredibly excited for its opening.

‘Munch and Wiggles’ is owned by James Davis, the owner of Clay Salon in Oxshott, one of his best friends Ben and a long term customer of his, Luca. James says that they complement each other massively and they are very excited to be working together. After asking James where the inspiration for the name came from, he revealed, “Ironically it was my children, Rose and Scarlett. That has been their nickname since they were born. When Ben, their godfather, said why don’t we name it after the girls, the name just worked and it will certainly make people smile when they say it!”

‘Munch and Wiggles’ will be collaborating with various other local businesses including The Juice Smith in Cobham and ‘Surrey Hill Butchers’ who will be supplying their meats and cheeses. The coffee and bread house will serve freshly made sandwiches and salads (to name a few) and has fantastic vegan, gluten free and vegetarian options too, so all people, whatever their preference, can enjoy their fabulous food. James said, “It’s all about keeping business local”.

Despite being in a small village, ‘Munch and Wiggles’ has already experienced huge popularity. Ahead of the opening, the 3 entrepreneurs and have encouraged people to come to their ‘pre-launch experience’ where the customers were able to have an early taste of the menu and have voiced their complements and suggestions. James said, “It’s amazing. Already the menu has been tweaked and improved. This wouldn’t have been possible if we didn’t have such honesty from the local community and big focus this week on getting this just right. The customers are already part of the M&W family which is great!” Clearly they have already been overwhelmed with support from the hungry population of Oxshott!

I think that ‘Munch and Wiggles’ is going to be a huge success within the village creating a buzz of excitement which has begun already before the opening! I certainly can’t wait to visit and I’m looking forward to munching my way through the menu.
