In the quiet Medway town of Rochester, a castle lives, however, it’s not just any castle... It’s Rochester Castle. If you like history and castles then you will love this.
Rochester Castle is one of the many tourist attractions in Kent that people seem to enjoy and love. Although it is not free - the castle explores the history of England as it was one of the earliest buildings to be built in 1080 by Gundulf (Bishop of Rochester). In 1127 Henry I had entrusted it to the Archbishop of Canterbury, who began to build the great keep – a masterpiece of medieval architecture, and one of the tallest building to survive in Europe.
As someone who has visited the castle myself, I can honestly say that it is a grand experience and definitely an unforgettable and remarkable one. The tour guides are exceptional – even though there is not much to see inside audio guides and information boards can be hired. Moreover, even though there are around 200 tiring and stressful steps to climb it’s definitely worth it at the end due to the fact that you are rewarded with the view at the top – which is so beautiful and mesmerizing.  The climbing of steps definitely isn’t for the weak, however, if you have children or little ones I suggest that you take them here as the steps provide adventure and fun for them especially.
Overall the castle is a great place to relax and even if you don’t want to go inside the castle you can relax on the grass especially if it is a hot summer’s day.
