English Grades sparkle at LPGS

Over the years, hundreds of students from Langley Park school for girls have ventured from school with high heads. In particular, with English grades, which are above the national average and in the top five percent of the country. English teacher Mr Chinery gives his account of how GCSE grades have improved there despite challenging obstacles.

After two years as a teacher there, he has noticed that " young people today have a better work ethic," adding that " despite adults thinking they don't listen, they do and are more aware of the difficulties of adulthood. " Therefore, he believes that children need to be listened to, and the ignorance of adults will only damage their mindset, creating a ripple effect in their grades.

He also conveyed his immense pride for his students, acknowledging the challenges laying in the GCSE path. He expressed his displeasure in that GCSE's "test students on one set of skills, which is wrong because everyone is different." Hence he is "very" proud of his students for succeeding in perhaps their weaker areas. He recognises the struggles, however he claims there is a way of easing them, known as "chunking." He describes this as "understanding that you can only do so much work in small chunks," and knowing that revising and studying effectively, involves  "knowing your limitations."

Mr Chinery is overall delighted with GCSE English grades at the school, continuing to witness the annual rise, as he sees more students through the nightmare of GCSE's.
