On the evening of Saturday the 18th of November, the Ashley Centre was filled with over 100 excited families, gathered for the annual Christmas light switch on. The switch on was accompanied by festive entertainment such as the stars from the Epsom Playhouse pantomime ‘Cinderella’, Ashley Bear and ,of course, Father Christmas.

During the pantomime stilt walkers, face painters and balloon modellers were stationed amongst the crowd, furthering the buzzing atmosphere of the tightly packed shopping centre. The event began with a puppet show and came to an end with the cast of Cinderella counting down to light switch off, followed by confetti and balloons. Local father Tim Smith said ‘It’s a fun event for all the kids that come- it gets better every year.’

This Is Local London: The following day, Sunday the 19th, Christmas festivities will continue with a Cinderella’s magical carriage photo shoot, inviting children to dress up as prince and princesses.
