Bold, bright and bellowing fireworks lit up the sky on bonfire night. To celebrate this event on Sunday 5th November I attended the Imber Court firework display, ‘the biggest firework display in Surrey’. Bonfire night marks the anniversary each year of the ‘Gun Powder Plot’. Bonfires are lit to remember this event - Guy Fawkes’ plot to blow up King James I and his Government in 1605. People ignite sparklers and fireworks, as they use explosives similar to what Guy Fawkes hid under the Houses of Parliament. The traditional rhyme “Remember, remember the fifth of November, gunpowder, treason and plot, I see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot” is always recited on Guy Fawkes Night.

Food, drink, fun fair rides, live music and most importantly the spectacular firework display was put on for the hundreds of people who attended the event. The venue was very accommodating for all ages and created an extremely fun and excitable evening for all. The live music was performed by the ‘Ultimate Jess Glynne’. This tribute was very good where crowds of people gathered to listen and sung along to the songs that they wished. The safety was of an exceptional standard, enabling people to enjoy a public firework display rather than minor dangers in your back garden.

The fireworks sequence was promptly set off at 7:30pm. The fireworks were amazing, vivid and vibrant which everyone seemed to thoroughly appreciate. The fireworks were thoughtfully coordinated with a variety of songs such as Despacito, Hello and One Last Time. This really added to the effect of the firework display and especially the eccentric finale!
