Redbridge’s Police Station Crisis

Yet again, the citizens of Redbridge are facing troubles in protecting their endangered police stations. As seen by the recent proposals by the Mayor of London, one of the several police premises could be shutdown and sold off. These local police stations will be transferred over to the main base in Ilford.

On the other hand, many people are protesting about their opinion on how much time will be wasted; for police officers travelling from Ilford in a case of emergency within the locality. Resulting in a major reduction of police station means that local residents will face problems in receiving a quality service from our cops. An example of this is shutting down Barkingside Police Station; which is a well connected part of the constituency, which helps to extend the police force across the locality.

Sadiq Khan’s review over these decisions was to be able to reduce costs of operating the police stations. This was introduced so that the financial targets of £400 Million could be achieved, considering the government cuts to underfund policing in our city since 2010. This was also bought to concern by Ilford high street north MP Wes Streeting. This target was kept in mind by Sadiq Khan to reach by 2021. As a result, 73 police stations will be reduced to 36 police premises across our city.

Did the mayor of London come up with a frugal idea not benefitting the citizens or is he concerned about his Metropolitan police funding?

In order to make a change for the closure of our security, think about this situation. The local Lib Dem Focus team are leading this fight for us. Once again thank you everyone, who is part of this.
