Charity is defined as an organisation setup to provide help and raise money for those in need or the voluntary giving of help, typically in form of money to those in need. The term ‘charity’ covers such a broad range of missions and ideas , Animal , Environmental, Medical, Education, Arts and Culture and International NGOs.

Environmental Charities focus on ways to promote preservation, appreciation, and sustainable development for the environment

Health charities cover everything from supporting and treating the sick and disabled to working on cures for diseases, and promoting public awareness of specific health risks.

Charities that focus on arts and culture help preserve artistic and cultural heritage as well as celebrate the arts and our history.

Education is the road that children follow to reach their full potential in life.

Yet many children in need around the world do not get a quality education where they can learn and develop. To advance learning, educational charities enforce education programs for children in the classroom and at home.

International NGOs (Non-governmental organizations) are typically charities that are headquartered in one country but work in other countries. They support other countries by providing aid.

Animal charity size varies. Some are large and international like WWF or some are local charities set up by a lover of animals. As well as animal rescue their work also includes conservation and wildlife protection.

For the last 2 years, my form have been working with the charity WE. It has been a privilege, as we have learnt so many new skills, and have had lots of great opportunities whilst helping others. Some fundraising events that we have organized include: We Are Silent, Bag Packing at M&S, and many bake sales; members have also had the opportunity to spend 3 weeks in India with WE.

We have also attended WE Day for the past two years; a Virgin Funded event at Wembley Arena, where young people from schools all over the country who have worked with WE gather to listen to some inspirational talks by ambassadors, sponsors, and other motivational speakers. There have also been a number of celebrity performers and speakers such as DNCE, Labyrinth, Nico and Vinz, Fleur East, Kate Winslet, Prince Harry, and many more great acts.

Another way to be charitable is by helping others not only by giving money but by giving your time as well. Helping others brings good feelings to the giver and the receiver of the good deeds. Using your special gifts to help others can be a gift to yourself as you enjoy a self-esteem boost for making others' lives better, and make the world a better place. You feel more worthy of good deeds yourself, your trust in the decency of people is reinforced, and you feel more connected to yourself and to others.
