International Women's Day

International Women's Day is celebrated on the 8th March every year and it is a worldwide event which celebrates women's culture and achievements across the years. Each year International Women's Day oversee many fun runs, marches, bake sales and other charitable activities.

There will be an "International Women's Month & Pre-Mothers Day Pop Up Market, Live music and acoustic evening" on Saturday 25th March 2017. It will be at Willington Road in Clapham. The event will be held from 2pm until 8pm. Anyone who attends this event will be able to join designers who are selling fashion, jewellery, arts and crafts, books, beauty products and so much more. I think that this will be a fantastic event and anyone who can make it should go as they will be able to appreciate the achievements done by women today.

Another activity which is going to be held is the “New You Boot Camp Fitness Day” which will involve up to 6 hours of training from a world class instructor, training advice which can be applied throughout your everyday life as well as lots of fun and a great opportunity to meet friends. It will be held at Richmond Park on a variety of days from 9am until 4pm.

In the past there have been so many successful women and I would like to name them and specify the role they played in making the modern society which we are lucky to live in today:
Ibtihaj Muhammad- she made Olympic history as she was the first Muslim American woman to wear a hijab whilst competing in the Olympic Games.
Florence Nightingale- An English nurse who made milestones in modern nursing.
Amelia Earhart- She was the first woman to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean however  she  disappeared while trying to circumnavigate the world.

A quote about International Women’s Day from a Bromley resident is “ it is a fantastic celebration of the history, culture and achievements by women. Every day society is evolving and I do hope that this amazing tradition of love and admiration continues”. Bromley women and all other women across London should be inspired by the power and influence women have in society and women should always remember that they are equal to men and that they should always support each other. I recommend all of you to raise awareness of international women's day and always try your hardest to inspire women.
