Croydon is a rapidly developing town, sometimes known as ‘The Next London’. This is due to most of the new buildings, the skyscrapers, the entertainment and new shops being built in and around central Croydon. Croydon saw the opening of Boxpark a few months ago and it has made more people want to visit Croydon. Boxpark is placed in a very strategic spot, just outside East Croydon Station, so it is easily accessible by commuters. Boxpark is a restaurant with many unique cuisines, including Vietnamese, Indian and Brazilian food.
Following the success of Boxpark, a new shopping centre is also being opened close to the station. Westfield is going to be coming in place of Whitgift and Central, this is a big step for Croydon as it will increase sales and help Croydon become a more sought after place. Westfield is planned to be massive, with three floors and an IMAX cinema, costing £1.4bn. The Croydon Partnership is also exploring the possibility to increase the number of homes on site to up to 1,000 new homes.
The construction is due to be starting soon and could potentially take up to five years to complete. Croydon has amazing potential so once this is all done Croydon will be a dream location since it is situated close to London, easy to commute from and has great facilities.
