Social media is a massive part of our daily lives with apps like twitter, snapchat and instagram directly accessible from our phones. As well as us using apps to share pictures or status' with our friends and family, company's now use social media to promote their products and business'.

Social media provides us with a fantastic platform to meet new people, learn new things and become more aware of the world around us. One of my friends said "Social media has been really helpful. I wouldn't be as aware of what is going on in the world right now if I didn't have social media. The news only teaches us half of what is going on in the world, social media provides us with as much information as we want"

While social media may be a fantastic platform for becoming aware of world issues, it is also provides negativity with many people leaving rude and unneccessary comments on pictures and tweets to celebrities and because they don't get caught, many people feel that it is ok to carry on and do it in the real world.

Unrealistic standards of beauty is also a negative point as for many of the younger generation, they see celebrities using techniques to conform to what we class as beautiful when in reality, we should just accept that that is what that celebrity has decided to do and we don't need to copy them because every part of us is beautiful and we don't need to change just to fit in.

Used in the right ways, social media is a wonderful platform that has helped people achieve riches, meet others and learn to accpet themselves.
