What is too early for Christmas? When should the lights go up? If you bring the tree up to early it dies but if you wait for the last minute all the trees are gone. December is the  Christmas month the advent calendars get opened the shopping gets done.  Heck, the end of November with black Friday is like Christmas. When I turned up to Kingston on the 13th of November, I was shocked to discover the tree was up, the fluffy animals, you can pose with, were in position and the Christmas Market was in full flow. Only days earlier, I had mourned the soldiers who had sacrificed their lives in war for us. If I had turned up on Friday the 11th  would the decorations be up?  Why is so much of Christmas now set up in November? A month which is not even in winter.

In today's world, it is deemed acceptable in retail to start selling Christmas presents in September and October; whether or not people buy these presents vary from person to person . However, I know I'm not in a Christmas mood until at least the 20th of November.  Unfortunately, that is due to all the Christmassy adverts and songs wich are inserted in my head during this time. So why do companies do so much to make people want Christmas to arrive ?

Whenever Christmas arrives, my school brings up this massive message to everyone that Christmas it is about being with your family and supporting one and over. I know this- but for so many Christmas is a time of year for money, greed and artificial love. Nowadays people expect presents and do not mind selling the bad ones off. For so many, the Christmas spirit is an economy. Many shops open up more jobs at Christmas time as they hope to have more customers, they put up cheesy adverts, and Christmas music in stores, tv companies put up old classic films and cinemas have blockbusters out and everyone spends a little extra money so the companies try and stretch this time for as long as possible.

This year, by the 14th of November, 10 of the major players in the best Christmas advert game had already released their  advert. These includes Sainsbury's, John Lewis and  M&S  and while I found these adverts amusing and uplifting, I was also sad when I then realized I still had over a month till Christmas.

To conclude this year, more than ever it has hit me how early Christmas is prepared in shops. This is disrespectful to the soldiers who have lost their lives. It  is simply a way of making the average customer spend more money on small worthless things so that the people at the top of the ladder have more money to throw around on useless shoes and suits. So next time you spend money on something you bought thinking it would be a nice Christmas present stop. Check for manipulating Christmas music, Christmas decorations , and even cheesy adverts.
