Walthamstow’s Light

It's that time of the year again- Christmas. If there's one thing that I love about this holiday season, it is the lights. After doing some digging, I discovered a part of Walthamstow that will be sure to 'lighten up' your day- God's Own Junkyard. It is a studio full of neon signs with the location: Gods Own Junkyard, Unit 12, Ravenswood Industrial Estate, Shernhall Street, E17 9HQ.

The stunning exhibition contains all of the work from Chris Bracey, who has been creating neon pieces for around 37 years. Bracey made these iconic artpieces for the likes of David la chappelle and Martin Creed.

While I was there, I noticed the huge variety of art pieces in the studio. With both new and used neon lights, signs and props, there is sure to be something in there for everyone. Whether you're looking to explore 'hip' places in London, or just simply want a few nice pictures, God's Own Junkyard is the place to be this holiday period.

The fun doesn't just stop there. As well as being an intriguing exhibition full of vibrancy and fun, God's Own Junkyard has also got a small café, offering a selection of pastries and cakes you could enjoy with your friends and family.

Bracey has made and collected signs that can be spotted behind some famous actors in top films. These include movies Eyes Wide Shut, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Batman.

So again, if you're looking to light up your Christmas this year, visit God's Own Junkyard, "where neon never dies".
