Out with the old,in with the new,an instrumental part of the Kew Gardens community just finished destroying its past and now stands reborn at the heart of Kew. The Church of England Primary school of Kew has just finished demolishing its old building and the construction of the new one which, as most would say, is a massive improvement over the old one. However there are still a few problems and things that need to be built.

The school was rebuilt under the Priority School Building programme which helps schools in urgent need of an upgrade. In this programme over 261 schools will be rebuilt or upgraded to suit their needs. Some of the upgrades this school has received are science labs and, the students favourite, the new sports facilities.

Currents students and parents are happy with the new building, “it’s really clean and everything works really well.” Says a student. “I feel more confident in the schools ability to provide a good education for a child,” this sentiment is shared across parents of children in varying years. However former students and even a few of the currents students have made it clear they preferred the old building and thought that it was working fine. “it’s like saying goodbye to a bit of my childhood,”-Jonah Hunt, former student.

As shown the new school building has received responses varying from love to hate. Only time will tell what the overall consensus of the community will be. Perhaps when everything is completely finished an answer will present itself. But for now the school encourages you to come check out the newly finished building during one of its upcoming events which are definitely worth going to!
