It is well known to all of us that the British Government is strict when it comes to paying taxes. Most of us receive our salaries via pay slips or get it put into our bank accounts directly. When this happens, taxes are taken off your payment straightaway and the money that you are left with is technically what you “deserve” to own, spend and save.

Not sure whether it is down to their luck or their extreme "intelligence", but private tutors don’t fall into this trap. The reason behind this is that they receive their pay in their own hands; quite literally, students pay them right after the lesson and it is in cash form. Once they have received the money, they would put it in their bank account and yes, you’ve guessed it right. No taxes are taken off.

Is this a crime? Even if it doesn’t sound as bad, it is very unfair to those who work harder, potentially including more manual work yet they don’t get their full pay. A private tutor’s job would enclose of them preparing one lesson, which may take up to an hour and then teaching that to several kids at the same time and earning lots of money.  It gets even worse, when the parents have to buy the text books and work books for their kids as well. The BIG question is, what are these private tutors actually contributing to?

Currently, tuition fees range from £20 - £30 per hour which is ridiculous and yet parents are willing to pay that much money. Parents’ hard work is being washed down the road by these over rising tuition fees. Children don’t want to go to tuition and parents force them to go. The child lacks concentration in class and parents still pay the fee after 60 minutes; at the end of the day, it is the private tutor that sits on his couch counting his earnings, which for being illegal, could be called black money.

Note :This article by no means intends to accuse private tutors. Their service will be more appreciated if they performed their service whilst obeying the Government’s rules and regulations because they exist for a reason.
