On Thursday the 26th of November, North House in Bancrofts School had their family evening which brought members of the house, their parents and staff together! This years family evening was special as we were celebrating ’50 Years Of North House!’

The theme of the night was the 60’s, which was taking the school back to the time period when the house had been born. People came dressed as hippies, or girls in miniskirts and men with flare trousers. Tie dye, flower crowns and peace signs were reoccurring themes of the night. Music from the Jackson 5 and the Beatles blared from speakers, and the whole school was decorated for the night with banners and posters all around.

At 6:00 were the stalls run by students which included the raffle, carnival games, a barbecue, food, drinks, henna, face painting, and even massive projectors where people could play FIFA. The stalls were a great success with everybody there having a laugh and enjoying themselves. To make it even more special, all the proceeds collected from the stalls and the tickets went to two charities- ‘Young Minds’, a charity that works with adolescents with mental health problems, preventing young suicide. The other charity was ‘United World Schools’ who aim to improve the provision of education in rural and war torn places in Asia, by building community schools.

After the stalls and food were the shows. This included acts such as a fencing show, singing groups singing popular 60’s hits, comedy sketches, dance shows, and even a live art competition!

All of the acts were spectacular and ensured everyone had a great time! The night was all about fun, it all went towards a good cause. Student of Bancrofts School Esha Partni said: ‘It was quite stressful trying to prepare for the night, but everything went all to plan and we all had a great night!’ The night was a great success for all those who had worked very hard to make the evening possible, and all the spectators!
