Crowds of teenagers from Bromley and surrounding areas were left buzzing this week after the ‘Live Up!’ concert featuring Guvna B and LZ7 was held in Bishop Justus Church of England School. It was hosted by the Transform Bromley Churches on the 21st November to encourage young people not to give up in times of trouble, but to turn to God.

The concert started with an icebreaker- the Mexican Wave. Although it had to be done quite a few times before it was good enough for the hosts, it got everybody warmed up. Afterwards, MOBO award winning gospel rapper and ‘Kingdom Skank’ composer Guvna B took to the stage. He performed songs from his new album – ‘Secret World’ (which was released on 21st November) - such as ‘Feel That Vibe’. This was followed by another song with a very deep message called ‘Nothing But The Blood’. This song had a close connection with the message of the evening. He then held a competition to see who the wildest dancer was, giving the winner a free copy of his brand new album.

Following Guvna B's exciting performance, LZ7 took to the stage performing some of their most famous songs such as ‘Brave Face’. They also performed ‘So Good’, a feel-good song from their new album - #LZ7Album5, and ‘Rude Boy’, to which they got the crowd’s fists pumping and feet stomping with some quirky dance moves. All the fun and dancing was followed by a heart to heart from lead singer Lindz West who shared a personal motivational story encouraging everybody there that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

One of the teenagers I spoke to about the event, said: “I really enjoyed this! I thought we would just be sitting around and stuff but I’m surprised because we all got to dance and jam out. I would definitely go again because it’s like, one of the best concerts I’ve been to.”

Ultimately, I believe it was a great experience as it brought a lot of youth together, giving them a chance to make new friends, discover new music and possibly even get new religious beliefs.
